Qld: Indy race ticket sales up

BRISBANE, Aug 12 AAP - Organisers of this year's Honda Indy 300 expect to set an attendance
record, with advance ticket sales up more than 40 per cent.

Queensland Premier Peter Beattie said it was expected the 11th Indy 300, to be held
on the Gold Coast from October 27 to 28, would attract more than 270,000 visitors, with
ticket sales up 41 per cent on this time last year.

The race will be beamed into 195 countries around the world, with a potential viewing
audience of 700 million people.

There will be five different forms of racing, stunt shows, an airshow, and 60 associated
events including street parades and a ball.
